Anwesh Upadhyaya and Swayams Mishra registered wins to light up a dull day for Orissa in the second round of the 20th National Under-17 Chess Championship at Chakradharpur in Jharkhand on today. Among the other four players from the state, two players settled for draws, while the rest two suffered defeats.
Orissa results (Round 2):
Girls: Sunyasakta Satpathy drew with CH Savetha (TN), Smaraki Mohanty drew with Mohana Sengupta (WB), Aparajita Gochhikar lost to J Saranya (TN).
Boys: Anwesh Upadhyaya bt Pratik Patil (Mah), Swayams Mishra bt V Varun (AP), Biswajeet Nayak lost to S Nitin (TN).
Pairings (Round-3):
Girls: S Satpathy vs A Akshaya (TN), S Mohanty vs Sonia Deshmukh (Mah), A Gochhikar vs Arna Sarkar (WB).
